Monroe Mine Union Country Oct 30"/55 TC Durant Esq No 3 south st New York City Dear Sir Enclosed I send you a [Duplicate?] of expenses of the Monroe Mine for the month of September. I shall [count?] about [$450?] for the month of Oct. I hope you will send it as soon as you [rcv?] this. Nothing new at the Long Mine, the [past?] week three of the surface hands have had the chills and most of the week we have worked 8 in a shift and of course we have not [drove?] as much as we did last. But we [drove?] [11 feet?] making in two weeks 15 feet. I am in hopes that I shall be able to keep full shifts this week. The [vein?] is about 3 inches [wide?] but [illegible?] I am in hope to cut a good [bunch?] of [ore?] in the south end before long. Send me the [whirn?] [illegible] soon as you can.
