Union Pacific Rail Road Company President's Office, 20 Nassau St. New York, June 22 1867 In consideration of the sum of One Dollar to me paid and for other valuable consideration, I hereby agree with Hugh Downing of Union County, North Carolina, that upon the payment to me by said Downing of the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars within twelve months from the date hereof, I will convey to his or to her orders in fee simple all my worthwhile and [illegible] in the Ling and Muse or Monroe mines, situated in Union County, North Carolina.
