at the river talked about the ponies said it would not let me ride the [of?] black one but the other. thinks the track will be done up for a fourth escursion it would be so nice told him that I would come over to have a ride on the road to des Moines. for the fourth Dan Mc is here now came for to see after the [fire?] Thinks it was J. M. & A [illegible], [Mc?] seen them put the, & run from where the fire was a starting but he thinks he can't [swair?] that it was them so he wants to see if he could have them taken up. [illegible] set out yesterday. I feel so sorry to think it was so hope they would be better boys then that [?] May 5th1869. Today has been very pleasent there has been a little air stiring not so comm as it was yesterday. for then it was very warm., last eve about eight-oclock. The boys called me to see what was a flying around in the air I listened & seen them coming down on the ground . thought they where grasshoppers but the good blessing they where not . hope they will not come at all. This eve they are a flying around some but not so many as last evening. this evening they layed thick under the trees of dead & mamed. Today there has been three teams for [corn?] Dr [S?] and two others [?] ate dinner today. B[?] Baker & their daughter & another Gentleman, that was here last year for corn but we had sold all then to Willis [Ross?] is an old widower [?] him about Miss Mills asked for to [?] him to his lady whip
