Salve for Sprain, Ankles One [gil?] of sweet Oil one quarter of lb of Red Lead two Oz of [Ogeroceum?], two oz of Porrasentas Bees wax two Oz stone pitch two Oz, one spoon ful Vinager, Boil the red Lead & oil till brown then add the other ingrediants add the Vinager when it is boiled enough & off the fire, Powder this into a butter pot with Water in it. than take it out, work it well and make it in Rolls. For the Ague Two drachmi of Camphire dissolved is as much spirits of wine as will make it into a paste pour on it a Quart of boiling water and Bottle it Four large spoonfuls to be taken going to bed & begin the night the fit is off and repeated every night till the cure is compleat. The bottle to be shook before the mixture is taken. this may be safely given to Children if proportion'd to their age and strength. A Black salve good for wounds new or old Take a pint of the best sallet Oil & a Quarter lb of red Lead beat very small put into a quart Skelit stir it all the time it boyles for fear it rise over when it begins to turn blackest drop some in a spoon when it cold if it be hard enough to spread take it of & keep stirring it till it be cold you may put it in a pot fore use The Wind Water take garden mint, wormwood of each a Lb & half one Lb of sugar, mother of thyme and rue of each one handfull shread them grosely and steep them in an pot close coveured 24 hours, about a gallon of Wine will keep it, till it in a Cold Still. - [Cimbeck?]
