To Make Buns Mrs Miles 3 lb of Flour, 6 or 8 ounces of Butter, as much new as will make it into a Batter & 3 Tablespoonfuls of Barm, a little sugar & nutmeg if approved to mix the Batter and beat & then let it rise for half an hour, then drop it into the Tins, and set them to rise untill full then [prie?] them & put them into the oven Preparation for writing on Linen one ounce of Salt of Tartar to one ounce adn a half of water. Permanent Ink Dissolve one dram of Lunar Caustic, or fused niterte of silver in less than half an ounce of water or into which a drop or two of nitric acid has fallen add as much solution of Gum Arabic as will enable you to write freely & the mixture will soon become opaque of a dark Greenish hue, the caustic must sifted in papor. This receipt was given to me by the Honbe Mrs Orde Powlitt
