George 3rds Lemon Cake The juice of 6 Lemons peeled very thin are to be put into a jug with 3 Pints of boiling water, let it stand till cold, then add the juice of the lemons to it with a lb of loaf Sugar - & afterwards strain thro' a sieve George 3rd sometimes added Wine but drank it oftener without- (It is very good with half the quantity of Sugar/ " Recipe for making Spiced Ale" To 1 Quart of Ale, already made hot add 1 Teaspoonful grated nutmeg 1 teaspoonful of ginger 2 tablespoonsful moist Sugar 6 Cloves - a small bit of Cinnamon A piece of Bread toasted brown mix these Ingredients in a jug & allow them to steep for about 10 Minutes following to its being drunk -
