"Bruise Ointment" (Mrs Hammer) 1 Large Handful of Rosemary Tops 1 ditto ditto Green Sage ------------- Feverfew ------------- Holy Thistle ------------- Lavender Tops ------------- Camomile --------------[illegible] -------------- Scarlet Rose-buds -------------- Southern Wood -------------- Wood Bettony 1/2 the quantity of Wormwood. Chop them small and work them into 4 tbs of Hogs' Lard (without Salt in it) and boil it over a slow fire for 1/2 an hour, then squeeze it thro' a Cloth out hot and as hard as you can. It is excellent for Bruises, Scalds (when the skin is not off) and also for swelled Legs in [illegible] if occasioned by Sprains or Bruises -
