Dr Bower's prescription for a Plaister for any violent pain, irritation or inflammation 2 parts of Extract of Hemlock. 1 part of extract of opium and all mixed together and spread upon adhesive Plaister the size of a shilling and a Margin besides - If required to be applied in sight, it may be spread upon black silk Apothecary's Plaister but not on sticking Plaister - it should be worn till it drops off and then renewed till all pain disappears - Recipe for Hooping Cough Ly Powers court Also for Hooping Cough Oil of Amber Laudanum Spirit of Hartshorn Misc equal quantities of each and shake them well together after which rub the soles of the feet and the Backbone before the fire every night before going to bed - Keep the feet very dry the day
