Carrageen Moss for Coughs and Colds Steep 1/4 oz of the moss in cold Water for 10 minutes then shake the water out of each sprig and simmer or boil it in a Quart of Water till it is a thick Jelly. Sweeten with Honey Sugar or Currant Jelly Medlar Jelly Boil Medlars (ripe or not) in enough water to cover them till they become a pulp then throw them into a Jelly Bag and let the Juice run off. Add 3/4 lb of Lump Sugar to each pint of Medlar Juice and boil for 1/2 an hour stirring constantly
