106 Raspberry Strawberry and Currant [illegible] from Mrs [Nadon?] - 1840 Dissolve 5 Ounces of Tartaric Acid in 2 Quarts of Water, pour it on 12 pounds of rip fruit in a large Jar let it let it stand 24 hours Strain it from the fruit without pressing To each pint of Juice 1 pound and a half of powdered Sugar Stir it till the Sugar is dissolved. Let it Stand a day or two, and take off the Scum; then Bottle it for use - It is drank in water pleasanter and more wholsome than Raspberry Vinegar - Syrup for Ice or any other purpose Raspberry or Currant Juice, or mixed - left to stand 24 hours after being squeez then give a pound Sugar to each Pint of Juice and boil it one minute not more, and bottle it - leave the bottles uncorked for two days - Mrs [Garsdon?] Anchovy Toast Cut some slices of stale bread moderately thin and toast it and spread it with fresh butter on both sides, then a thin layer on each side of Anchovy Paste, over the butter - [I?] have a rich custard without sugar ready, and just before sending it up pour it on quite hot & [serve?] it up immediately JW W[illegible] - August 1847
