163 Decoction of Bark and Liquorice by D ress An Ounce of powder of Bark and an Ounce of Liquorice Extract, boiled in three Mutchkins of Water to a Chopin - Prescription for Croup Bathe in warm water up to the neck apply Leeches to the temples - give an Emetic 10 grains of Ipecacuhana - Calomel powders 1 every 2 hours till they operate - If necessary a [Plaster?] on the Breast [Lucca?] Oil and Sugar (brown) even if it creates a nausea or vomiting some also prescribe Laudanum - Boorhaves Rheumatic Tincture An Ounce of the finest Gum Guiacum in powder - One dram Balsam of Pern - four ounces of Sal Volatile, put in a bottle well stopped, and let it digest without heat - then pour off the clear for use - a Tea spoonful to be taken in Honey, an hour before dinner and again at Bed time - (Moderate spoonfuls)
