had sufficient water to make the paste of a right consistency, knead the paste lightly with the fingers.  Flour the park board well, put the paste on it sprinkle flour over it and role it out to 1/4 inch of thickness.  Take 1/4 lb Butter, lay it on a clean cloth turn the wet cloth over it and beat it lightly with your fist till it is rather less than 1/2 the size of the paste with which it is going to be used.  Lay the Butter on the paste, fold the paste over it press the edge slightly together, roll it out carefully once, fold in three towards you, & then set it away in a cold place for 1/4 of an hour.  Bring it back, flour the board lay it on sprinkle flour over it, fold in 3 towards you. Turn it round with the rough edges towards you, roll it again and fold it in 3, the set it away in a cool place for 1/4 of an hour.  Repeat this three more.  Bake 5 to 10 minutes in a quick oven for tartlets.  Do not grease patty pans. 
Gum tissue can be bought in sheets for mending patches.  Apply it with a warm iron to the linen to be repaired & it is done.
