29 The Deptford Pine Myatt Eliza + the Elton Pine They are to be planted 16 Inches apart + in a month; time to have a covering of fresh stable short manure Of small cabbage Lettuce "They are called the hardy green cabbage Lettuce - usually sown about 20th August and again in the 2nd week of September More of the 1st sowing to be planted out when of the right size (which any Garden understands into bed - about 6 inches each may should be left between the plants. - Those of the 2nd sowing, to remain in the seed bed till spring - But these Lettuces may also be sown all thro' the Spring + Summer, but then must not be planted out or they will run to seed therefore they must only be thinned out in the seed-bed leaving the afore-named space viz-6-inches between the plants. -
