to Julesburgh or Overland City - thence up the valley of Lodge Pole Creek crossing the Black Hills through the Cheyenne Pass crossing the Larimee Plains north of the Medicine Bow Mountains and from the North Platte through the Bridger Pass and down the valley of Bitter Creek to Green River, then up the valley of Blacks Fork to the vicinity of Fort Bridger following north of the Uinta Mountains - then through Kamas Prairie down the valley of the Timpanogos River through the Wahsatch Mountains to the Salt Lake Valley near the foot of Provo Lake. this distance I made nine hundred and sixty miles - and estimated the cost of construction at not far from $20,000,000. with the exception of a few points the work and grades would be light - I have no idea that the Missouri River ever will be Bridged at any point that I have seen - not that there are any difficulties in building but I believe it impossible ever to confine the channel to a point where a draw could be put in
