valuable man for us in case it should be policy to select a Director from this Territory. Monell goes on with the ostensible purpose of asking the election of Mr Kountz - but in all probability would sell him out to aid himself - Mr Kountz is a Banker - has a house in Denver and furnishes money to about half the freight men that leave this point, holds considerable direct influence over the entire business community here and I am satisfied would be worth more to us here than any dozen men the Governor included and all officials in the Territory. My object is not to advocate the appointment of any one here, but in case it is thought best to have one located here I think Mr K. would be the least troublesome and the most useful man I know of- Respectfully Yours Peter A.
