an arrangement might be made with him to build that Bridge for a Rail Road Bridge which would not largely increase its original cost, have it built under the direction and supervision of your Engineer and take it off of his hands when the Iron reached that point. The interest of the company will be served by drawing all travel possible to the North side of Platte River and his expenditure would not be a total loss as it would be after the Road passed that point. I make this suggestion for your consideration - There is a wrought Iron Bridge now in general use on the New York Central Road that I think has much merit used for Spans of 150 feet and under that is a shape that could be readily transported - I have been unable to ascertain its cost but think if it is not large it would for the few Bridges required here be the best thing that could be obtained certainly the freight would be less than on the Timber Bridges
