Williams is getting his work started very well - I bought Parkers Timber having very carefully examined it and put Sprague and his men in there, can do but little in the way of contracting ties as from the scarcity of labor almost every thing else pays better - Mr Brayton was here and received his letter giving him notice of his appointment but as you are probably notified declines - I think that our parties are too small to do that work well as it does not provide for any chance of Sickness among the men - and keeps the full party without the proper chances for outside examination and cross sectioning that they should have in that broken country - another train also will be required in forwarding supplies - I would add two chainmen or Axemen and one Wagon & team to party this would be a matter of safety as well as expectation - The parties should start as soon as possible - The Missouri River is at present very low but during the summer it will probably
