Omaha April 9th 1864 T.C. Durant Esq Dear Sir Since and about the first of April Mr Reed and Mr Evans have reported themselves and completed all Maps neccessary for their guidance - Mr Finney and Matthewson first Assistants - Mr Bissell, Sladden & Seymour second Assistants and Mr Finney Rodman - under the supposition that the parties were to start the first of April I made all arrangements and would have been glad to have started them before this - The terrible experience that Brayton had last winter shows the importance of improving the Spring and Summer - If Evans could start on Monday he could complete the Survey from Cheyenne Pass to Green River and Reed from Green River to Salt Lake - if they have to stay here
