Omaha Sept 1st 1864 T.C. Durant Esq Dear Sir Enclosed please find the Estimate for the month of August 1864 - The work is progressing more favorably than at any previous time and there seems for the first time a prospect of getting men - The party under Mr Edwards surveying near the 100th meridian have been driven in - their work incomplete - Mr Evans has connected his Line with Reeds at Green River - but I have not profile enough to judge fully of the merits either of the Survey from Salt Lake east of Black Hills west - Mr Case is surveying in the South Park - the Indian depredations will prevent Mr Evans from making the South Pass Survey this season - will write you more fully in a few days - Sent Approximate Estimates made by Mr Henry and myself from Omaha to 100th meridian on Tuesday by Express will send Map of location of 100 miles in a week Respectfully Yours Peter A. Dey
