Omaha Dec 9th 1864 John E. Henry Esq Dear Sir Mr. Beckly the man who owns the Decater timber and of whom Mr Sprague advised you to buy was in here to night. He offers the thousand acres of which we talked and three hundred acres of timber below for $16,000 - this would make the tract average for the thousand acres which is cheap thirteen dollars, for the 300 acre tract ten dollars - I think that the whole can be purchased for $15,000 and no less, that would put the lower tract at Seven Dollars, fear he will divide and sell to other parties in case you do not take it soon - I think there is nothing like it on the River Respectfully Yours Peter A.
