Private Chicago, April 26, 1855 S.B Reed Esq Dear Sir Your note of the 24th inst was received a day or two since, the prospect of the work is probably more favorable than at any time for the last six months. Mr. Farnam left for New York yesterday morning for the purpose of making a contract for the immediate completion to Iowa City and Muscatine and a proposition for some of the work west, say to Fort Des Moines and Oskaloosa. Probably Mr Ogden and Durant will be partners. This please mention to no one until you receive from some other source. I had heard of your marriage before, and indulge the hope that the prize you have drawn in the worlds great Lottery may be equal to your anticipations. Respectfully yours, Peter A. Dey
