Washington July 25, 1856 Tho. C. Durant Esqr. Dear sir Mr Ashmun will telegraph you to-day to come on, and thinking a letter would reach you before you start, I conclude to write and say to you to come by all means- Things are in a better shape now than they ever have been before, and if on [Wilds?] appearance here all things are made satisfactory to them about the Northern road, I think we can do something next Monday - If Denver fails to suspend the rules, then Bennet takes it Truly yours &c Jno.
