Washington Augt 8 @ 2 - p.m Durant, Nothing new has transpired since I wrote you last night, except that the thieves are [illegible] awpious now to accomplish something, and we are (to them) indifferent - [Douglap?] was with us last night until midnight and he ans Old Dick Richardson are fairly [worked?] up - [Ashusm?], Dick, & myself go out to breakfast with [Douglap?] to-morrow morning - Our [illegible] is to make a big [demoustialion?] Monday morning Johnson is here & is [illegible] our senator Jones to introduce [illegible] into the senate - Jones declines and says he must get it through the House Do not fail to be here
