P.S. The weather has moderated so that we shall open the Swamp Land ditch in a day or so and try and take out the ditch this winter say 8000 yards. The Gold coming in here from the Gold mines 560 miles West of here is creating a great excitement and preparation for a long emigration persons are arriving daily with from $1 to $10000 = Persons who left here about the time you was here have gone to mines and send back gold and great stories I enclose a small specimen G. M. D
