Saving...
Albany July 21st 1853 Dear Brother Uncle says you better have an understanding with Walcott that none of the Peoria stock shall be put upon the market at present and if you can possibly avoid offering it untill it is known that the road is or is to be [leased?] to the Chicago & Rock Island it [would?] just as it should be If you want more money than what you get from the city of Peoria Bonds propose to him to raise 50.000 each and not offer the stock. If this can be done I will make an offer (of course jointly with your Uncle) for 200.000 of the first stock issued provided the road is [leased?] This would be carying out Mr Walcotts views, that is to place the stock in large quantities. at the same time take the refusal of 1 or 200. more. If it is leased I could sell it readily at par and would get well paid for our trouble. The more I think of it the more I feel convinced the whole stock can be placed at par if the [lease?] could be effectd and perhaps Mr Walcott & you would accept an offer of 900 or thereabouts for 2 or 300.000 of the first and give the refusal of more. Uncle said I better write you to try and not have Mr Walcott offer any but if you consent to his proposition over
