Saving...
Albany Feby 26th 1856 T.C Durant Esqr Sir As yet I find no chance to sell our Barges, & if we do not sell them we had better run them as they will sell better when in use than they would idle. If not sold (or if not all sold) soon we shall want some one to take charge of them. What do you say to my engaging John McClary and sending him to N.Y about the 1st of March to take charge of Grinnell & Bishop & if any are sold he to run the one we have left & if all are sold & we cannot sell him with them we would have to make up any loss to him on his seasons work. he is the best man I know of to take charge of them and in all probability we will have to run one at least part of the season if not all of them. John is [now?] here and will not engage himself [for the coming season?] untill I hear from you. Let me know by return mail & if you want him in NY to take charge of Barges CW Durant
