Albany May 24 1856 T C.D. Dear Brother Have you got any map from the Iowa land offices so we can tell what land there is not [as yet?] taken up. I am afraid we shall get but little not enough to do much towards building, but hope we may The enclosed slip from a Chicago paper estimates the amt subject to Entry [illegible] May which you will see as our Line is small. The M & M Co should now go to work [treats?] the lands and see what can be done towards [illegible] to go on & complete the Road we might to try and get married men - interested in one project before they are drawn off into the [others?] & the advantages we have to offer is a central [route?] Bridge accross the River & 60 miles Road completed.The two northern Routes will get most & probably all of their land and they will have all the Galena & Illinois Central influence with the influence of all their Eastern connections so you
