Newyork July 14, 1853 Gentlemen, We will receive from shipboard or store whenever practicable and transport from this port to Chicago Ills. from Two to Three thousand tons of Rail Road Iron including the Eight Hundred Tons now in port (the order for which we hold) for Six 50/100 dollars (6 50/100) for 2000 t. with the understanding that the Iron shall be delivered us prior to the 10th day of October next. You are to assume all risk on the lakes and we are to forward the Iron with all practical dispatch. To constitute a delivery the Iron must actually be delivered to our Boats. Payments for the transportation may be made in cash on the delivery of the Iron or in 7% convert-
