Chicago and Rock Island Rail Road Co. Cashier's Office Chicago, Dec 7th 1856 Thos C Durant Esq Dear Brother Nothing new here in Chicago since I last wrote, as for myself I am doing nothing of account, just looking about and watching a chance to [dip?] in, I am going out to Muscatine this week. Mr Farnam is now in Iowa expect him back [Teusday?] Mr Alexander [said?] yesterday that he was going to NY this week to see you & Mr Farnam together. I think that he has lost money in the [grain?] house this year they have been taken in no grain for the last 5 or 6 weeks. they will commence soon to make some repairs about the building. I shall be in New York some time in Jany. I am glad to see the C & RIRR stock above Par Please send me a draft of $500 and [charge?] the same to me If there should be any change with regards to the Grain House before I see you just keep me Posted.
