/ 1-8-8-1 Iowa City - April 1st 1862 Tho C Durant [illegible] Yours of the [illegible] just recv. On the 13th of March I recv a letter from you requesting me to locate a depot at a west of Brooklyn and to make [illegible] arrangements as I saw fire under those instructing I asked as the agent of T C Durant Rail have constructed, knew not of the company. I do not consider Tho M & M R R [illegible] in any way shape or [illegible] in that contract with [illegible], but are left face to build a Depot at any point they wish west of Brooklyn. But Tho C Durant is bound in that contract not to put into a Station in this [illegible] of the one that is to be built
