I.,................187 In relation to the second point, I think we ought to show affirmatively our anxiety to carry out the agreements, a little more fully than it has been shown, and I am trying to induce Gov Van Zandt to make affidavit to the share he took in those efforts: - it is possible I may succeed in inducing him to do so, meantime I think you will find no difficulty in making oath to the second paragraph of the affidavit. The third paragraph is not so material but it tends to show a looseness on the part of the attorney for the R. R. Co. which may have its effect: it is clear that the papers ought to have remained in his hand, until executed. - Mr. Bartlett swears that
