Law Office of Sam'l R. Honey, 127 Thames St. Newport, R.I., March 20 -- 1877 Tho. C. Durant Esq Dear Sir: It is very important to the proper conduct of the defence of Mr. Hazard's case against you that the Credit Mobilier Company should authorize us to appear for it. -- It is, as you know a party defendant in the suit. We shall make it no charge for our services The result of one appearance for it could not in any affect any pending questions between you and it: it would simply enable us to defeat Mr. Hazard's claim to a right to sue you. Yours truly Sam'l. R. Honey Abraham Payne Char C. Van Zandt
