Saving...
I have written this in the midst of a trial but it is the [result?] of some reflection and I thought it best to submit my views to you. I hope to see you on Saturday, and to have some definite instructions. I have given much attention to this case and I [trust?] if our [client?] will use his means of defence with attention and energy he can get out of his present trouble: Truly, A Payne To Gen [illegible] Van-Zandt New-York P.S. If you get this letter, I wish you would telegraph me at Providence, for if I am not wanted in Providence in this case on Saturday I may want to go to New-York on Friday. Hazard & Bradley are here today, and in answer to a question, from the latter, I have said "We are preparing a motion for leave to be permitted to appear answer & defend this case." Preserve this letter. I have no copy
