Dear Sir: Yours of the 9th instant addressed to Mr Abraham Payne is before us. I do not think he will be able to attend to the subject you refer to [within?] the time [illegible]. I sent your letter to Mr [Huey?] in Newport tonight. He will be able to answer your questions either directly or through me. I think the [illegible] cannot be obtained ex parte.
