Law Offices of Tillinghast & Ely, No 10 Woods' Building, 12 South Main St. Providence, R.I. Sept 23d 1880 Wm. Sutphen Esq Dear Sir -- I have yours of 20th and to avoid any misunderstanding on the part of Dr Durant or yourself I reply at once. By our practice - the usual equity practice - the final report filed in Court is a substantial, if not exact copy of the draft report or reports submitted to the parties. The very object of the draft report is that the master may have the benefit of any new suggestions or arguments the parties may have to present so that if he has fallen into error or oversight of any material matter it may be corrected. Hence my supplemental draft report. And if on further objections and [hearing?] thereon on 6th ult I shall be convinced of further error so as to require any substantial change in the present findings I shall repeat it. Same follows
