12th 1867 page 277 of the Journal Int No 149 Read the entry? Ans No 149 "Union Pacific Railroad Company $168,874. To construction contract for account Special Committee as paid by this Company" and also another entry; "Union Pacific R R Co $38,475.72 To construction Contract for interest on amount abandoned line, expenditure $70,556.50, one year 10 months at 7 per cent from February 1, 1865; Special Committee bill, same time $168,874, 1 year 10 months at 7 per cent from February 1, 1865 $30,726.91; Burnetize Bill from April 1, 1866, eight months, $22,729.36 $1060.69; Loup Fork Bridge from August 1, 1866, four months $82,527.30 $1826.69 interest; Extra cost of iron from April 1, 1866, eight months; $102,052.16 $4762.43 interest to December 1, 1866." As none of this interest was allowed in the settlement made by the Directors of the Union Pacific Railroad with the Credit Mobilier; it was all charged back in the entry referred to. On folio 318; some of this interest does not properly belong to the suspense account; it belongs to other items but none of it being allowed it was credited back to the Union Pacific Railroad.
