Saving...
Int. No. 20 What rate did you pay for the money? Ans. No. 20 It is so long since that I have at most forgotten, but my impression is that we paid seven percent interest, and two and a half percent commission; that was the customary rate we paid as that time. Int. No. 21 For what length of time? Ans. No. 21 For either four or six months. Int. No. 22 Who was it that got this million you speak of? Ans. No. 22 I cannot tell you whether it went into the Treasury of the Credit Mobilier of America, or whether into the treasury of the Union Pacific Rail Road Company; it went into the treasury of one of the other; or the Trustees got it; I cannot even say that. It either went into the Treasury of the Union Pacific Rail Road Company, or of the Credit Mobilier; I don't remember which because I did not keep the books. Int. No. 23 Didn't you carry on the whole of the negotiation yourself? Ans. No. 23 Yes, sir; and handed in the money.
