Copy New York March 21st 1855 Mississippi & Missouri Rail Road Co. New York Gentlemen. We have been expecting for a long time that a satisfactory settlement would have been made of our accounts against you for the Rails &c. &c. but, so far as we are advised no arrangements have been made for doing so; consequently we feel obliged to take measures to sell the Rails & shall advertise them for sale both here & at Chicago unless a satisfactory arrangement be made, on or before the first day of next month; and we beg you to consider this as a notice to that effect Respectfully Yours (signed) R Chouteau Jr. Sanford & Co.
