Philadelphia March 20 1866 Dear Sister Ellen, I will address you a few lines, hoping they will find you enjoying good health, My health is very good at present. The weather today is rather cold and damp, so that nearly every one in the house has a cough. Last night they had a general hot toddy for their cold. Last night Tom Brookes and I were at the menagerie, it was a grand sight to see all the wild animals, even prairie wolves to prairie Chickens. I just received a letter from my old chum from Iowa City, he says every thing was passing off quitly and that examina-tion would commence next week. He intends going back to Virginia in April. I would like to see him again. Well, sister, I will not say any more about him, as you do not know anything of him. Last week
