Home Boone Co Iowa April 22nd 1877 My Dear Albert: Dont get scared at my taking possession of my dear friend too you [know?] you are my christmas gift Albert. if I did not get you off the Christmas tree, I thought I would write you a little letter this [evening?] telling you how we are all getting along. First [howt?] you think [illegible], Maggie [Marz?] & the little girl you left behind, all whent on a visit las Tuesday over to Ella Smith's on a visiting tour. found her busy in the kitchin [&?] her mother gone. Elbert gone. but Ella home dont you wish you had been [illegible] too. we stayed till three & four Oclock then the dark cloud in the South East told us
