I still live in expectation. that I will have some conveyance of my own some day & then I can got out from home some times too. as well as others; I shall make an effort to be over next Sunday if possible. to have a pleasent chat with my little friend E.M.M. although I am not much of a talker, but still I may be able to say one word every once in a great while. Friend Ellie I am truly & sincerely glad to know that You have such deep respect for such an unworthy friend as I. Oh! by the way I should liked very much to have been over to Your place on the 26th of Sept and given you a birthday present. And [ont?] of Your [illegible] was'nt You almost afraid to trust that secret in my care
