Molasses Cake (Mrs. Browne) 1 1/2 cup Molasses 3/4 " butter 1 egg (not beaten) mix these together & add 1/2 cup boiling water To the other 1/2 cup boiling water add 1 heaping teaspoonful Soda (No Cream Tartar used), mix all together. add flour till it will run from the spoon. Ginger & cinnamon to taste. Slow oven. (Should be 1 cup of boiling water in all) Maple Syrup, To 1 pt. water put 1 lb. maple sugar When dissolved add 1 lb of gran. or brown sugar Heat all a little till well dissolved.
