Rippey, Ia. Jan 9th /84. Dear Aunt Ellen Again we are permitted to enjoy a happy New Year and I hope it is a happy New Year to you and to every one. So I will again write you a letter. Today we done justice to a nicely roasted turkey but still the appetite would not be appeased when seeing some of the bird left in the dish. Did Santa Claus come around your way? Some how he has missed this way but not altogether for four days after Christmas I was the recipient of a birthday cake, it being my twenty-first birthday
