Jamaica Guthrie, Co. Iowa. Apr. 10th 85 Dear Aunt Ellen: I am teaching school two miles north of here. My school commenced the sixth of this month will close the twenty-sixth of June. I came home from school from/at Jefferson March second first I heard the the sad news of Dear Grandma death, but our loss is her gain and I hope we shall all meet in that land where death does not enter, and there shall be no parting with loved ones. I am boarding about a mile and a quarter south east of my school-house with Mrs Chas. Adams. Mr Adams is Sub-Director I like my boarding place very well. I like teaching school very much the only fault I find with the school
