Monday, Jan 1st, 1877. Since I wrote in this little book last I have been very busy; not always working O! no! but I have had few idle minutes to think or dream or attempt poetry writing in as I used to, for I have been enjoying something or working or studying almost all the time & with all my might. Before going on again & writing the little affairs of every day, I will briefly review the past few months. All of my eastern trip I have written else where. We reached home on Friday morning, Oct. 13th 1876. It seemed queer to get home in the morning and rather lonesome for the vines were all frozen, & the house looked cold & neglected. I was very glad to be home any way & to see all my friends
