Thursday Aug. 3rd. I took Mrs. A. D. T. Whitney's book named "Patience Strongs Outings." from the library. It is not the one I intended to get but it was the only one of hers there. I hope to find no more love - scik heroines, French balls, gambling Counts & ect. as I did in the book referred to on the preceding page. Tuesday, Aug. 8th. I am about 2/3 through "Patience Strongs Outings," & I feel like writing about it. It is not the kind of book that a certain young lady who bows to young gents. she don't know & ect. would call "perfectly divine, exquisite, supurb, exchanting" & I know not what else, but it has its
