To make good Drink Take one peck of Malt Liquoirice and Spanish Liquoirce of each (bruised) a quarter of a pound Hops quarter of a pound Ginger two ounces Water Six Gallons To produce an external inflamation which will often [ans?] near the end of a splinter Mix two [Temyales?] of Emitic tanter with one Ounce of hogs-lard For the tooth-ach Or pain in the the teeth Hold the root of pillatory of Spain in the mouth For Rheumatick and other pains Reduce stone Brimstone to a fine powder and Mix it with honey and apply it as a plaster Or if honey cannot be got Treacle may be used in its stead A little Spirit of Turpentine may be added To Cure the pain occasioned by hollow teeth Take an ounce of Salt-petre Dissolve it in a noggin of hot vinegar keep sipping it as hot as you cane bare it and when you spit out one mouth-full take in another and keep on doing so until you have taken the whole Another for the Same Take vinegar Salt and Brandy of each a Teaspoonfull Mix together and convey it into the hollow tooth For Gout Scurvy Rheumatism Take Contraeva in powder one ounce Oil of Fennel Seed one hundred drops Cochaneal For enough for pills Take notice the powder of Elecampane root in powder may be susbstituted for the Contraeva, and Oil of anniseed for the Oil of Fennel The Dose For a Sore Throat Apply a poultice of Bran and vinegar Rheumatism Take Etherial Spirits of Turpantine half an ounce Compound Tincture of Aloos One Ounce Salvolatile half an ounce Mix these together and shake them well every time you use them. Dose 15 drops morning and evening in a wine glass of water lukewarm Another for the same complaint to be used outwardly Take white wine vinegar one pint Salt-Peter two Ounces rub some of this into the afflicted joint with hand before the fire frequently. Sausager--To 20 lbs meat add 1/2 lb salt 1 oz. Pepper. 1 oz Sage--ginger--if you please
