An American receipt for Rheumatism which very seldom fails Take of garlic two cloves gum-ammoniac one [Dram?] beat them well together and make them into two or three boluses of which take one every night on going to bed And drink while taking the boluses sassafras tea as strong as you can make it To make Ink Take green vitriol one ounce logwood powdered one ounce Blue galls three ounces vinegar three pints put it into a vessall Shake it twice or thrice a day for twelve days Then add gum-arabic half an ounce When the gum is dissolved it is fit for use To make Soda-Water Put 40 grains of the carbonate of soda in crystals into a common Soda-Water Bottle filled with pure water Then immediately add 35 grains of Tartaric-acid and cork the Bottle as quick as possible To make Ink Green Copperas as half an ounce nut-galls one ounce and half Gum-araback three quarters of an ounce Reduce the whole to powder and put it into half-a pint of water Excellent physic for Cleansing Horses Equal quantities of Flower of Sulphur Crude Antimony Salt petre together. Dose 1 teaspoonful in their feed, not exceeding once a day and if the horses is kept in work once in two days
