An Excellent Salve for Wounds in Horses or Cattle Oil of Spike, oil of Amber, Olive Oil, Verdigrise, (Mute Rosin?), Bees Wax, Mutton Tallow, Lard. Mix the lard & Verdigrise together. Melt the Tallow, Bees Wax & Rosin together. Let them cool a little, then mix the whole together and stir till cold. Apply as a plaister. Change every 24 hours. Extract of Goulard Take as many pounds of Gold Litharge as quarts of Vinegar. Let them boil very slow one hour. Keeping it well stirred all the time. Let it settle then hour off the [liquor?] and bottle for use. (Boil it in a glazed Bessel , if you can) Salve for wounds in Horse 1/4 of Lard Bees Wax the size of the walnuts 1 oz of Verdigrise a small taespoonful of Blue Vitrol. 1/4 of Honey Powder fine & mix together. 2 oz Venice Turpentine Pain in the back or Loins Balsam Copavia 1 ounce, of these drops let 20 be takein on sugar night and morning (First best) Scoures in Horses Take White Oak Bark boil it in water [strong?] Give the horse 1 quart from 2 to 5 times a day as the case demands. [&?] add to it a table spoonful of Laudanem and a teaspoonful of Oil Hemlock Black Oils Oil Turpentine 1/2 pint Oil Vitrol 1/4 pint Curriers Oil 1 pint Mix the curriers oil and Vitrol first- Then add [ILLEGIBLE] for foot Rot in Sheep or hoof ail in cattle or any other wounds
