To Cure The Ague Take Sulpharate of qunine 12 grains Extract of Gentian or of Chamomile enough to form it into 6 Pills one to be taken every 3 hours when the fever is gone Or if a Pill is objected to take two Grains of the quinine in water every three hours untill you have taken 6 Doses or 12 Grains For the Asthma Take of the compound of quill pill and Dram Ipecucaana in powder 15 grains Simple Syrup enough to form pills Number 15 One to be taken three or four times in 24 hours Strong Coffe is a good assistant Billious Diseases Begin with 5 Grains of Calamal to be taken at bed time Then take the following Pills Take Rhubarb and [illegible] root in fine powder of each two scruples Ipecucanna in powder 24 grains Castile soap two scruples Syrup of Orange-peel enough to form, pills Number 24 One to be taken twice or thrice aday on an empty stomach Take notice if heartburn [illegible] ten or twenty grains of Soda may also be taken in alittle water Boils Commonly called Blackheads... Drink Burdock-tea dailly for a Month Or take Brimstone a quarter of a pound and Cream of Tarter half as much Boil it in three pints of water a quarter of an hour when cold strain off the clear and drink a Tea cup-full several times a day And apply to the Boils Brown Sugar (or Honey) and yellow soap equal quantities work it well together and apply it Coughs Take conserve of Hips and red Roses of each 6 Drams Mucilage of Gum-arabic [illegible] of Syrup of white-poppies and [illegible] of Squills of each one Ounce Lemon juice or diluted vitriolic-acid enough to make it agreeably Sour The dose a Table-spoonfull several times a day Another for the Same Take white-wine vinegar and Honey of each two Tea-spoons full and Laudanum 5 drops for one dose it may be repeated 3 or 4 times aday Another Take compound Ipecicuanna powder two scruples Extract of [illegible] one Dram Make 20 pills one to be taken 2 or 3 times a day
